I’m a 28 year old mum myself and I have two children, my son is 10 and my daughter is 8. I married my husband in July 2010 (he has been fully vetted by OFSTED and undergone an enhanced CRB check). I had been contemplating Childminding for a long while before actually doing so. I became registered with OFSTED in September 2008. I also have an assistant who now works for me whilst doing her GNVQ level 2, She has undergone a fully enhanced CRB disclosure.
I currently live in Ashington, Northumberland in a nice friendly and safe neighbourhood. My home is large with a large secure rear garden. Out front we have an open plan garden which leads onto a very quiet road in a newly built housing estate. This I believe to be a warm, welcoming and happy typical loving family home. Being a mum and having young children my home is secure from all aspects from electric sockets to the stairs. I had my first inspection in August 2009 and gained a GOOD with several aspects of OUTSTANDING which I am very pleased with as I think it truly reflects the care that I provide.
Both my children are my whole world and I really enjoy the fact that although I am working I am still able to spend quality time with my children and they are able to have an even greater group of close friends.
I have a large collection of children’s toys from birth onwards, These including counting toys, foam play pads, ball pool, books also a large variety in Braille, arts & crafts collections, play dough, light sensitive toys, musical toys, action figures, dolls, prams, laser tag games, tag tails, and many more.
I also allow children limited use to the internet (cyber nanny protected) on a laptop solely for childminding, in our home we also have the following which the children can use: wii, wii fit plus, playstation 2 & 3, Xbox, DS, PSP with a large selection of children’s games.
We have a very large collection of DVDs and Blu-ray films which the children enjoy watching, also the use of sky installed into our home.
In the gardens of my Childminding setting I have various large equipment which the children have access to these being, trampoline, swing hammock, slide, cars, bikes, scooters, go-karts and sand/water pit (all available during summer months only so as not to be a hazard to the children).
During the school holidays I try to do as many suitable activities as possible (these chargeable to the parent) for example white house farm, Alnwick Gardens, banana beach, pirate island, bounce and many many more.
During term time more local destinations are generally visited such as local play parks and soft play centres due to the school collection times.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information.
